Why Diwali matters.
Diwali, also called Deepavali, brings families and communities together around a shared message: light, goodness and understanding can overcome darkness.
Faith, hope and fresh beginnings
For many Hindus, Diwali recalls Rama’s homecoming to Ayodhya; other traditions remember Krishna’s victory over Narakasura. Worship of Lakshmi is central in many households. Customs differ across regions, giving the season many distinctive expressions.
Jains remember Mahavira’s nirvana. Sikhs observe Bandi Chhor Divas in the same festive season, honouring Guru Hargobind’s release. These observances retain their own religious meanings.
A celebration woven into everyday life
Homes are cleaned and decorated, diyas are lit, rangoli welcomes visitors, and families exchange sweets and gifts. New clothes, visits and shared meals turn the season into a time of reunion and gratitude.
For many businesses and families, it is also a season of renewal. Handmade lamps, textiles and decorations connect the festivities with Indian craft—an especially meaningful link for a fashion community like Inde Artisans.
Across borders. Close to home.
Indian communities abroad carry Diwali through family traditions, temple gatherings and cultural events. The scale and style depend on the community, venue and local customs.
How Indians celebrate worldwide
Families decorate with lights and rangoli, hold prayers, cook festive meals and share mithai. Community centres and temples bring people together, while cultural programmes introduce children and friends to Indian music, dance, clothing and stories.
Video calls and online greetings connect relatives across time zones. Some gatherings are intimate home celebrations; others welcome wider neighbourhoods through public performances, food and craft activities.
Many places, one festive connection
Celebrations reach beyond India: the Smithsonian highlights communities in Singapore, Doha in Qatar, Denpasar in Indonesia, and Houston and Washington, DC in the United States. Its own Diwali programme brings together food, performances and crafts.
Indian communities and their friends celebrate in many other parts of the world too. Diwali’s global reach is a story of cultural connection, rather than one identical event repeated everywhere.
From Inde Artisans, to the world.
To everyone celebrating, wherever you call home: may your Diwali be filled with warmth, joy and connection.

Some of the most beautiful things we create are the moments we share.
At Inde Artisans, our Diwali celebration brought a festive warmth to familiar spaces. Marigold garlands framed the day, traditional outfits filled the rooms with colour, and a handmade rangoli became a joyful expression of creativity.
This photo story brings together the details and the people that made the occasion memorable—from the first touches of decoration to smiles shared across the team.
The heart of Inde Artisans.
Behind every shared achievement are people who bring their time, skill and care. These team photographs celebrate that community—and the joy of coming together beyond the working day.

Petal by petal and colour by colour, festive preparations turned everyday spaces into a warm welcome. The rangoli reflects the care and creativity that make a celebration personal.
